TFG Asset Management has called on some of the leading hoteliers in sustainable hospitality practices to help develop its latest white paper on ‘green’ initiatives.
The research team is consulting with a large number of UAE-based experts in this field in order to create a comprehensive guide to sustainable practices for hoteliers in the Gulf region.
They include green trailblazers such as Mr. Solaiman Al Rifai, senior manager of tourism development and investments at Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM); Bob Busman, regional responsible business coordinator Middle East, Emirates Green Building Council representatives; Jesus Gutierrez, co-managing director at Smart4Power; Iftikhar Hamdani, general manager of Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman; and Sandrine Le Biavant, director of consultancy – sustainability, energy management & FM consulting at FARNEK.
During our discussions with these prominent industry stakeholders the TFG Asset Management team discovered a number of pioneering initiatives currently being rolled out across the UAE.
We found that some hotels in the region are starting to incorporate new practices such as the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle model whereby papers, plastics and metals can be recycled; food composting; initiatives promoting the re-use of linen; and energy-saving measures. The team also gained more insight into government sustainability strategies.
The TFG Asset Management research paper will analyse the benefits of these initiatives in order to foster greater understanding of green concepts in the hotel industry.
The majority of the hospitality managers with whom the TFG Asset Management team met shared a positive view of the sustainability initiatives currently being adopted in the UAE
“It is very encouraging to discover that hoteliers are actively seeking to develop sustainability practices that preserve the environment and the wellbeing of the local community,” said head of TFG Asset Management, Mariano Faz.
“Thanks to the insights and guidance of industry leaders in this field we believe our upcoming research paper will provide the region’s hospitality industry with a comprehensive overview of the latest green policies and practices.”
